Information about Harmeny Education Trust:
Harmeny Education Trust provides care and education to children from all over Scotland who have experienced early years trauma due to abuse, neglect and severe family disruption. The impact of these early years’ experiences is profound and their children struggle to manage their emotions and build positive relationships. They are often way behind with their learning and some even arrive at Harmeny without the ability to play. Children in Harmeny’s care have been through multiple changes in their care and education before they arrive at Harmeny; many have moved 10-12 times before they reach 8 years old. At Harmeny children are given consistent care and can discover how to be children again – to play, make friends and find fresh ways of learning that focus on their strengths.

Harmeny requested funding to purchase tables and chairs to be used in an outdoor classroom in their new learning hub.
Feedback:
Harmeny purchased the tables and chairs and was delighted to report that the Learning Hub opened for learning on the 23rd October 2023 and that the children and young people were loving their new spaces and learning facilities. Now instead of having to round them up for lessons, they can’t wait for them to begin and are actually queuing to get in! The flexible layouts future-proof the facilities and allow the Harmeny programmes to be tailored around the interests and talents of the young people, helping them to engage in their learning, reach their potential and ensure they develop key employability and life skills fit for the modern workplace and to live well independently in later life.
