Who we are

We are the Pentland Community Chest (PCC), a partnership between Balerno Village Trust the the Rotary Club of Currie Balerno, which exists to administer the allocation of small grants to the local community. Our website address is www.pentlandcc.org.uk.

Information we collect

We may collect and use the following information about you:

  • Anonymous information about your use of the site, including details of the pages you view and the resources you access. This includes traffic data, location data and other communication data.
  • Information you provide to us, either when you contact us via the website or off-line or when you are provided with a user account (see below).

Photographs

Photographs on this site are generally provided by other organisations, particularly those organisations which receive grant funding from the PCC. We publish these photos on trust that the organisations providing them have sought all relevant permissions for their use. As a matter of policy we never identify children or young people via the caption to a photograph or via any descriptive text associated with the photograph.

  • Specifically, this means that no child or young person will be named in captions.
  • It also means that names will not be used in text that can be linked to a photograph.

Adults will only be identified in a photograph when their permission has been obtained. We will remove photographs of individuals from the website when requested to do so by anyone in the photograph.

Cookies

The PCC website uses small files known as “cookies” to enhance your use of the site.

If you have an account to log into the site (e.g. to update content), when you log in, the site sets up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

When you visit our login page the site will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Security

We have security measures in place to protect our user database and access to this database is restricted internally. However, if you have a user account it remains your responsibility:

  • to keep your password secret;
  • to protect against unauthorised access to your personal details;
  • to log off from the website when not using it; and
  • to make sure that nobody else uses your computer while you are logged into the members area of the website.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Using the information we collect

We do not use an online contact form on this site. Instead we ask that you contact us via email, using the address on our grant application form which you can download from the APPLY page. The email you send is forwarded to one or more of the Pentland Community Chest committee members.

We will never share the information you provide with a third party without first obtaining your written permission, unless required to by law.

If you have an account with the PCC website and you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If you have an account on our website, we also store the personal information you provide in you user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
