Information about Holy Trinity Food Bank Tuesday Kitchen:
The Tuesday Kitchen, which is part of the Crisis Foodbank Operation, prepares fresh meals for distribution at the Crisis Foodbank which is in operation 52 weeks every year. The Kitchen provides two days of nutritionally balanced food support as well as signposting to services to address underlying issues which have prompted the crisis.
Because the Tuesday Kitchen aims to help in crisis, it does not insist on a referral on the first visit, however attendance is monitored allowing confidential conversations to be had about underlying issues and enabling signposting to appropriate support.
Freshly cooked meals are part of the provision because these meals are better quality than tinned ultra processed main course options and they cost less. This enables the Kitchen to stretch financial donations further.
The kitchen supports 50 different households weekly and provides freshly cooked meals for nearly 100 people each week.
Information about the project:
The Tuesday Kitchen applied for funding to purchase lids for their existing kitchen stockpots and to buy sauté pans to enable them to brown ingredients as they cooked meals. They also wanted to replace some well-worn serving items.
Feedback:
The items were purchased and have been in constant use.
