The Pentland Community Chest (PCC) reached a milestone yesterday evening when the 100th award was made. The PCC committee met to review the thirteen applications that were made in the period 1 June to 30 November 2023 and were able to award grants to eleven of the applicants.
The 100th award was made to Nether Currie Primary School PTA for the purchase of recycling bins and stickers, which will contribute to ongoing improvements being made to playground spaces and will form part of the school’s work toward the Green Flag Award (part of the Eco-Schools Scotland programme).
The successful organisations and projects were:
- Balerno and District Schools Pipe Band – Purchase of uniforms, flashes and accessories
- Balerno Children’s Gala Association – Purchase of 20 walkie talkies and a gazebo/shelter
- Pentlands Men’s Shed – Purchase of CCTV camera and accessories
- Community for Food – Purchase of new shelving and storage equipment
- Nether Currie Primary School PTA – Purchase of recycling bins and stickers
- Compass Playgroup – Purchase of water/sand tray and accessories
- Ravelrig Riding for the Disabled – Purchase of four galvanised gates
- The Mill at St. Joseph’s – Purchase of aprons and name badges
- Friends of the Pentlands – Purchase of seeds
- Juniper Green Bowling Club – Contribution towards ramp for disability access
- Harmeny Education Trust – Purchase of equipment, manure, plants, grasses and bulbs for new herbaceous border
