Information about Ravelrig Riding for the Disabled:
Ravelrig Riding for the Disabled (Ravelrig RDA) supports people with physical, learning and sensory disabilities, as well as autism and multi-disabilities. The physical therapy delivered by their activities improves fitness, muscle strength, balance and coordination, benefiting core strength and mobility.
Ravelrig RDA provides 12 riding lessons per week, each lesson lasting 45 minutes with six participants of varying abilities. Some lessons are themed or seasonal for extra fun. Ravelrig RDA also organises riding experiences in the local area e.g. beach rides, woodland walks and visiting other RDA groups.
Ravelrig RDA participates in RDA riding competitions at a local and national level and in some classroom based activities e.g. arts and crafts. The group also offers non-riding related activities including: stable management, grooming, horse care.
Information about the project:
Raverig RDA was developing an indoor arena and applied for funding to purchase white goods for the new kitchen being created in the arena. They hoped to buy a dishwasher, a fridge, a microwave and a toaster.
Feedback:
The new indoor riding arena and facilities were completed and the white goods were installed in the kitchen.
