Over the last seven and a half years the Pentland Community Chest (PCC) has awarded more than £50,000 to local organisations to use for projects that benefit the community. After yesterday’s meeting to review the most recent tranche of applications, the grand total came to £52,690. A significant amount well spent.
Fifteen applications were received in the period 1 June to 30 November 2024, fourteen of which met the funding criteria.
- Pentlands Book Festival – Purchase of banners and flyers
- Balerno High School – Football club: purchase of new football strips
- Ravelrig Riding for the Disabled – Purchase of white goods for the kitchen being created within the new Indoor Riding Arena
- Balerno 51st Scout Group – Purchase of electric fan oven cooker and associated hardware for installation
- Balerno and District Schools Pipe Band – Purchase of two children’s kilts
- Currie High School – Purchase of wool and baking materials for NEST (Neurodiverse S3s) group
- Currie Primary School Parent Teacher Association – Purchase of polytunnel and associated materials for nursery garden
- The Colinton Tunnel – Purchase of materials, hire of scaffolding and artists fees for upgrade work in tunnel
- 31st Pentland (Juniper Green) Scout Troop – Purchase of three Berghaus Grampian 3 tents
- Nether Currie Primary School PTA – Purchase of thirty waterproof jackets and overtrousers for use by pupils in classes involved in outdoor learning
- Community Foundation for Planetary Healing – Purchase of new cover for yurt
- Girlguiding Currie District – Purchase of frying pans, pots and outdoor signage
- Balerno High School – Wellbeing Hub: Purchase of games and dinner sets for Wellbeing Hub
- National Trust for Scotland Malleny Garden – Purchase of cycle rack and and sundry construction items
